IGTV Now Supports Landscape Videos

It is good to see that the community shared vertical videos on IGTV, from the Baby Ariel Love Triangle series to Jameela Jamil's I Weigh Interview and Rocks Mana and Gratitude series. However, in this first year, we have learned and improved many things. We got suggestions from the viewers and content creators about their interests and things that need to be enhanced. In addition, we have made changes in IGTV due to these suggestions and feedback. It includes our biggest change this year: the creators can now share their IGTV video previews on their feeds. It lets the viewers find the IGTV videos more easily. After making this change, we have noticed that too many people spend most of their time watching IGTV videos, and creators publish some unique content.

Today, we have made another change to IGTV videos, and again, it happened due to listening to our viewers and creators' feedback. Many creators want to publish landscape IGTV videos, and the viewers also want to watch them in a better way. Therefore, we announced supporting landscape videos along with vertical. We aim to make IGTV a platform where you can get good quality content, shot vertically or landscape so that the creators can express themselves in their own way.

We understand that it has been a big change since IGTV started, but it brings revolution for both viewers and content creators. To open an IGTV more than a vertical video is similar to when we opened Instagram in 2015 for vertical photos only. This way, people become more creative; the same will happen with IGTV again.

The viewers can stream their desired content on IGTV from their favorite creator on their smartphone. Conversely, the creators got more freedom to show their creativity according to their preferences. The vertical videos work best for creators who want to get closer to their followers or audience. On the other hand, landscape videos also have their capabilities, as many people are in a single frame for sports and dance videos.
