Introducing Instagram Reels
February 17, 2024 (10 months ago)
Introducing Instagram reels, a feature of Instagram Application for creating short, entertaining videos.
Create reels in the form of short videos to share on Instagram with your mates and others. You can edit your recorded reels using effects, adding audio, and other tools. Moreover, it only lets you create reels with a certain length, from 15 to 90 seconds. Make multiple reels and publish them on your account feed to share with your followers.
Through a new space in Explore, you can also share your reels with the community on Instagram if you set your account to Public. Anybody can become a creator on Instagram through reels in Explore and get an audience worldwide.
How It Works:
Creating Instagram Reels:
Navigate to the Instagram camera and select Reels from the bottom. You will get many creative tools on the left side of your phone screen for editing reels.
Audio:
You can find your preferred song from the huge Instagram library and create reels using your voice while recording it. If you share reels using your original audio on Instagram, that audio will be linked to you. Moreover, other people can also utilize your audio for creating reels by choosing to use audio from the reel option if your account is not private.
AR Effects:
Explore the vast effects library to select the one you like created by creators and Instagram globally. You can record clips as much as you want using these effects.
Countdown and Timer:
Set a timer if you wish to record clips without using your hands. A countdown of 3,2,1 starts when you press the record button, and the recording will start for the selected time.
Align:
Align your previous clip objects before recording the new one to create smooth transitions for adding friends into reels or moments such as changing clothes.
Speed:
Adjust the speed of the video and audio to create a slow-motion or beat video.
You can create reels by uploading videos from your mobile gallery or can record them in a series of clips at a time or at once. To start recording the first clip, press and hold the capture button. While recording, a progress indicator will be shown on your screen. To end a clip, stop recording.
Sharing Instagram Reels:
Share your reels with your followers on Instagram or be discovered by the huge community on Explore.
For Public Accounts:
If your account is public, you can share your reels in Explore to get discovered by the vast Instagram community. Furthermore, the reels can be posted on the feed to share with the followers. Your reels might also be visible on the dedicated pages if you share them featuring effects, hashtags, or audio songs when somebody clicks on that song or hashtag.
For Private Account:
Go to the share screen if your reel is ready to share, where you can add a caption or hashtag, customize its cover photo, and tag your friends. The reel will be live on your profile in a separate tab after sharing from where people can discover it. Your shared reel will be visible on your profile grid if you share it on your feed. You can edit or remove it as per your choice.
Whether your Instagram account is public or private, you can share your reels, stories, and messages with friends. Your shared reel will act like a normal story if you choose to do so, and it will never show in your profile or explore section and will disappear after 24 hours.
Watching Instagram Reels:
Instagram reels in the explore section show the most trending content. In the vertical feed, you can explore any reel that anyone on Instagram creates. If you watch a reel that touches your heart, you can like it, share it with friends, and comment on it.
Some reels contain a featured label. You will be notified if your reel is featured in the explore on Instagram. Instagram selects such reels to help viewers find the original content and believes it will inspire and entertain them.
People can express themselves through reels, which allows them to find their favorite content on Instagram. Besides, reels also help people to become creators and take the stage.
